Mourinho will be SPURS next manager. Why? Because Utd will opt for a dynastic successor to SAF. Mourinho isn't a mug and will know that he needs to build in his future success HIS WAY, and not follow a has been.
SPURS will offer Mourinho a stake in the club and invite him to challenge himself to build it. As Jose gets older there will come a point where his ego will want to settle into a longer term challenge that gives him a platform to be regarded as the most successful manager. At Spurs he will be arriving as the new stadium is being built and as the current team has peaked. He won't be able to resist it. Stuffing Arsenal, Chelsea, Utd and City will be too tempting!

Wojciech Szczęsny–''he joined the Arsenal youth set–up.''
''Afobe joined the Arsenal F.C. Academy aged six he was playing for a Sunday team in Dagenham when he was spotted by an Arsenal scout.'' {ed's note – I would find a more reliable source than wiki if you want to be taken seriously. I am sure the official club site will have the same info, but at least that won't have been edited by some kid who was a bit bored towards the end of his summer hols.}
@Exactly my point, they all played for Arsenal's academy but they were taken from other football teams academies by Arsenal.

Sir Alex,
I think Moyes and Jose are the 2 leading contenders, i honestly cannot see another British contender.
Don't get me wrong i think Jose is a fantastic manager and no–one can question his record. He's got the ambition certainly lol. And i agree how the Madrid job goes will play a part. The short term success would be fantastic, maybe he could be the manager who beats Liverpools record? Both league and Europe. That would at least take some of the pressure off his successors they wouldn't have to equal/ beat the record in Europe. Although he would be tough act to follow, it maybe less pressure than being Fergie's direct successor, and Jose would cope with that pressure more than others would.
Maybe 2–3 season under Jose and then Moyes in long term for about 10 years? and after then god knows.

Gersman86,
i have to agree, i think initially the old firm would struggle, although if you survived you could compete.
Personally i don't think it would happen as there's just too much to go through for it to happen. its not just a case of 20 English clubs voting for it to happen, which they won't but it would also have to go before the FA, the SFA and UEFA and i really cannot see UEFA agreeing to it or even the SFA. Nor would the SPL itself like to see its biggest draw and source of revenue leave.
Personally i think it would be interesting but how many fans are going to want to or even afford a round trip from Glasgow to London and vice versa.
Robert the Red.
Would they not have to start off in the bottom tear of the leagues, or would Cardiff Swansea tms etc just walk right into the epl as they are different country too

If you want to know a club who have actually produced some talent from scratch then check out Manchester United, the kings of producing talent
In the past you were (Scholes, Giggs, Beckham.) But not any more. Name a few. .(apart from Macheda and Welbeck, who are both unproven) All the players i said trained at the academy mate.
@I know all of those Arsenal players you mentioned played for the Arsenal academy, the point i was making is they were taken from other academies, so a kid will train with an academy from the age of seven then Arsenal will come along and poach them at the age of 15. Don't get me wrong all clubs do it but do not be fooled into thinking they have come up from the Arsenal ranks, truth is other clubs have done the hard part while Arsenal take the credit.
As for United Macheda, Welbeck, Cleverley, Brown, Evans, Gibson, O'Shea, Fletcher, Scholes, Giggs, Neville are all current United players which have all graduated from the United academy. Beckham, P.Neville, Butt etc who have left the club. There are many more but are not yet proven, just like Wilshere & Gibbs for example.

I don't know who the dreamer is talkin bout moysie going to villa, gwt real mate, if he left everton it would be for a top job, i watched the game on sunday, how villa won i will never know, it was like attack v defence. everton have got 1 point from the 1st 3 games which is not good, but against villa we played some great stuff, the movement and passing was realy good. if we play like that the rest of the season everton will do realy well, villa looked like a team going backwards and it looks like learner will need to slash the cash to get them competing top 8
i watched the 1st half of liverpool on sunday and was not impressed at all. fair play they won but the 1st half performance against a team who will be in relegation trouble was not good. maybe they played better in the 2nd half?

Portsmouth–
I think we may have seen the last of Nugent, we offered him to Burnley yesterday in a bid to bring in Chris Eagles, which failed. He will leave on loan to Blackpool on the 8th.
Danny Rose, Kyle Naughton and Kyle Walker are all on Stevos cards. We WILL look to bring in Vassell and possibly another striker, now that Smith has left.

It was not in exchange of Chris Eagles, but of Wade Elliott

Sir Alex,
Thanks for the reply. Ii see what your saying, i think Jose is desperate for the United but i just worry that he see's it as just another box to tick off on his cv. He'd be around for 2 seasons, maybe 3 at most and then leave and how would he leave us? He's a cheque book manager and our financial realities are well documented. I'm not questioning his achievements but i do question his style of play.
Whereas Moyes is good at working with a limited budget and gets the most out of what he has, also i think Moyes woul probably be a bit more likely to stick with the existing players rather than making large changes like Jose does.
I know people talk about the goof relationship between Fergie and Jose but i alos undertsand that Bobby Charlton is quite against Jose as manager. I think the casting vote could go to David Gill and the recommendation of the 3 of them would go to the Glazers. Also i doubt they would want to pay Jose his large salary.

Hey everyone. A news story in Scotland has broke out that Celtic chairman dermot desmond wants Rangers and Celtic to move to England.
Personally my view is as a Rangers fan I would not want this, the reasons are europe, celtic and Rangers would not reach the top 6 for a while and could risk even relegation if a bad season occurs which would be disasterous (spelling). only benefit would be money like tv revenue and sponsorships etc. also out with the top 4–6 teams the rest of the premiership is dull to be honest as blackpool vrs west brom does not appeal to most people even english viewers. But this won't happen has it was out voted by english team chairman.
whats everyone view? .
thanks. Gersman86

Kinda sucks when you have to buy other players from other academies to look good. Must be that huge amount of money payed to the families to move.
what are you talking about? Wilshere, Afobe, Eastmond, Bartley, Scenszy, Mannone. .etc all came through ARSENAL'S academy. So what if we stole players like Fabregas off Barca, they said he would never turn profesional, it's their loss, most of the players we allagedly stole off other academies count as home–grown anyway, Cesc for example.
What i'm saying is Arsenal don't spend 30 million on players such as Berbatov and Shevshenko and Veron. All impulse buys, all turned out carp. We develop our team.
@Umm Szczęsny was taken from Legia's academy, Mannone was taken from Atalanta's academy, Eastmond was taken from Millwall's academy, Bartley was taken from Bolton's academy, Afobe was taken from Leyton Orient's academy and finally Wilshere was taken from Luton's academy.

Torres is already privately (and not so privately) venting his frustration and anger at Liverpool's inability to attract any quality, especially up front.
He was promised so much pre–season and feels those promises have been broken.
Any assurance he has given the club over his future intentions are considered by him to be null and void.
It will be a worrying time running into he January transfer window. .

Looking at some of the posts about VDV and listening to Adrian Durham moaning about 'bending the rules' makes me laugh. The ONLY WAY Spurs could have had transfer of the players registration ratified by the Premier League (and not the FA or FIFA as some numpties have suggested) is if the registration was transferred between Real and Spurs BEFORE 6PM. The problem was communicating this to the PL and then proving the deal had been done. Having provided the proof, it stands as the best deal of the window. Listened to the sour grapes from Gooners, Villains and Scousers on Talk Sport and almost missed the turn off I was laughing so much.
Levy's played a blinder adding to the squad exactly where we needed it. The one exception being Keane still at the club and not moving him on and replacing him: MikeG

01 Sep 2010 17:34:00
Sir Alex, you really think Jose to United? Personally as a United fan i'd rather have Moyes. Better on a budget and with young players. Robert the Red
About 3 years ago I was told by someone very much in the know that it would be Roy Keane (I would assume it was based alot on performances etc. in the time till SAF retires) However I don't think this will happen, I think the information was correct at the time, but I think Keane simply turned about to be as good as he thought he was, he may perhaps develop into a great manager. SAF has always said he wants an old boy he wants a system like Bayern where old players become coaches etc. Moyes would be a great manager for Man Utd. he would be there for a long time but it would take while for him to adjust, Jose on the other hand would take the club by its horns immediately but one would suspect then go onto coach a national side after a shortish period (England/ Portugal are two jobs he has said he wants to manage). So therefore I think the short term solution would be Jose, long–term Moyes. Whether or not these two are the main contenders when SAF retires is another thing. I would not be surprised if Giggs would be very interested in the job, ultimately the decision is upto SAF.

Southampton Executive Chairman, Nicola Cortese, has narrowed his list of potential managers down to 5 primary candidates.
He spoke to the number 1 man he wants – MARTIN O'NEILL today and has offered him a lucrative salary to try and persuade him to drop down to League 1.
Phil Brown, Paul Tisdale, Iain Dowie and Rolf Fringer (manager of FC Luzern – Swiss table–topping team) are the other men on the "main 5" list.
This source is usually very accurate and was correct about Pardew becoming manager last season, he told me 24 hours in advance.

According to somebody that has an insider at the club, the reason for Pardews dismisal is the fact that he made an "illegal" approach on a 1st teamers partner.Half a dozen 1st teamers went to discuss this with Nicola Cortese (chairman) to demand that action was to be taken, there was an altercation on the training ground involving management and players, Cortese held interviews with the people at the ground on this day and after finding out what went on, made his decision .Pardew, Murdoch and Downes were known for their drinking club so all got asked to leave. I don't know the player involved although rumoured to be Adam Lallana. If Cortese didn't take this action 2 very important 1st teamers were going to hand in their transfer requests. If this is true i feel a bit of an moron for booing Cortese and singing pro Pardew songs at St Marys last night.

Vdv signed for tottenham, , the rules are put in for a reason. the transfer window closes at 6 and deals can't be made after so how come the vdv deal didn't go through in time but harry apealed and the now have him in there squad. i mean wtf. does this mean any club can just buy a player now and go " oh we spent the time giving him a medical, flying him over and doing the paper work. can you just lets us have have him?"

Celtic will not allow Ledley to go out on loan. If he is unhappy then he will wait till January when Celtic will sell him for a good price.
All I've heard is that he was happy enough not to have asked for a transfer before yesterdays deadline, Celtic will not let him go out on loan as he is also used as the back up left back if emilio izzaguire is not available. Lennon also sees ledley as one of his first names on the team sheet.

Aston Villa will appoint David Moyes of Everton their new manager. David Moyes will be given a four year deal along with the freedom of funds available to him. His reason for leaving everton was because he wasn't able to work with Kenwright any longer after a number of private fall outs over their transfer policy. Sources telling me that one of these issues was concerning Jack Rodwell. Kenwright went behind Moyes' back and accepted an offer from manchester united for him to be completed for the start of next season. So randy learner has too advantage of this and promised moyes that if will be allowed to bring landon donovan in to villa park in january. This deal will happen the only chance of this not happening is if the manchester united job comes available which is very unlikely at this point in time.
I will give you my gall bladder if this happens. Your 'source' really? I don't know why people try to justify their drivel. I mean just think about it logically if Kenwright has sold Rodwell for next season, why give him a new contract and paying him more a season and a signing on fee? David Moyes wants to create a dynasty and we are very privileged to have such a fantastic manager. The only job I can see Moyes leaving for right now is probably the Man Utd job and I think we all know that it will probably be Jose that replaces him.

Come on Ed, what have you heard on the Villa Manager position. Wasn't I one of the 1st to say O'Neill would be gone by the end of the week that he walked.
As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I seriously believe and been told that Big Sam is in the frame, he ticks all the boxes and compensation wouldn't be huge.
Yet looking at the General's comments on a fans website, it looks like a manager currently out of a job!
{Edi's Note – From what has been written and said by the people in charge at Villa Park, they aren't interested in anyone who currently holds a job, but they are looking for Premier League experience. I havent heard anything but some names worth mentioning that fit the bill are Sven Goran Eriksson, Alan Curbishley and Gareth Southgate} ()()

Some of the man utd and other fans think that man utd are weak because we failed to spend large amount on transfer for third transfer window in a row. But is it true? man utd compete with chelsea very well in barclays last season n juz 1 point made difference between man utd n chelsea.besides, man utd was excellent in last season champions league, the only thing that went wrong was rafael red card.thats normal disaster in nowdays football.we can't blame saf transfer plan 4 that. Im sure man utd able to beat bayern last season if we play with 11players.if man utd meet lyon in the semis last season as bayern did, sure we can knock them also.Man Utd has win the carling cup last season and very recently man utd has win the charity shield by knock strong chelsea side. Do u think man utd are weak? i don't think so. We are getting stronger and stronger. GGMU!
Red Devil United!
@Completely agree, everyone have been saying that we have been missing that creative spark from midfield, well Scholes has been a genius so far, Anderson is returning and with Owen & Hernandez there as back up for Rooney and an on form Berbatov we should be fine. Lets not forget Bebe he can play on either flank, as a second striker and as a out and out striker.
Lets have a bit of faith in our manager, the same manager that has made Manchester United who they are today! EDITOR do you think people are over reacting? Like Fergie said in an interview last month, "People are talking about replacing Scholes, well Scholes is still here and is still playing well", he said "When we have to find experienced replacements then we will, but until then we are okay!
Would you agree with what he said Editor? I mean look at this year players like Ozil, Sneijder & Muller have made names for themselves, of course they were discovered before now, but they stepped up a gear this year, next year there will be more players that will step up a gear and one of them may be Scholes replacement, trust Fergie, he has earned that trust ten times over.
Is that fair Editor?
{EDITOR'S NOTE: I think Fergie accepts that he no longer is the most powerfull Man in premier league he has adopted a different approach to the transfer market similar to wenger if he is to keep talent coming in he will be buying youth. Only worldclass players Fergie has at his disposal is Vidic,Giggs,Scholes,Rooney with alot of hot young players who could well become world class. The pattern has changed from £25M+ signings to bringing in players for the future}

But is it true?? man utd compete with chelsea very well in barclays last season n juz 1 point made difference between man utd n chelsea.besides, man utd was excellent in last season champions league, the only thing that went wrong was rafael red card.thats normal disaster in nowdays football.we can't blame saf transfer plan 4 that. GGMU!

Disappointed when I woke up this morning, hoping for a few transfer shocks a.k.a hoping for Everton to sign someone, alas it seems our total outlay this season is about £1.5 million. Still Everton for 4th place or higher this season! Might help by not putting Rodwell on the right wing.

I'm a disapointed Cardiff fan, we let gerrard go to hull on loan for the season and brought no else in to replace him leaving donkey Hudson and gypes with only Blake to cover, we can't sign anyone else on loan because we already have 5 loan players and the only allows you 5.
To the fans signing Santa cruz on loan is impossible sorry, we can only make perminate transfers now. So unfortunatly we have to go with what we got or sign a few free agents

Just been working at a wedding last night in which i saw Gael Clichy of arsenal who says there is unrest in the camp and he thinks Wenger is having a affair with fabregas's wife so that's why fabregas wants out, but Wenger won't let them leave. Any Mario Gomez to liverpool

Yes City have my heart at the moment but for a while there I was tempted by LFC. There was alot of credible talk on here yesterday about a last minute takeover and signing of Aguero that would have been tempting.
But for the minute my holy trinity of clubs are MAN CITY: REAL MADRID LA GALAXY AND LAZIO. These clubs are all institutions of the game built on proud tradition and principles.
I will say after a poor WC I have treated myself to a new Spain top from Sports Direct and put all my England gear in a bag for the Africans same place my Everton sh* e went.
One annoying point I got fecking Torres no9 on the back of my new City away shirt so that will be on hold till Jan. I sat up to midnite waiting to see if it happened last minute but der was piss all signings from about 5!

Bristol City are looking to sign Rose, McPhail and Hill on loan deals.
01 Sep 2010 12:23:06
In the middle of July I recalled a posting I made in March and wrote:
"Some time ago I suggested that the transfer bubble may have burst. It is early days yet, and I might still be proved wrong, but at present there is a lot of talk about big signings but very little action."
I then predicted that neither Torres nor Fabregas would be sold and went on to say:
"Of course, as the transfer deadline looms, the action will hot up. It always does. But I also suspect that the transfer fees that are actually paid will be much lower than the ones that are currently being bandied about. Clubs will want to disguise the weakness of the market, so I expect to see a lot of 'fee undisclosed' signings being made in August."
Since then, Mascherano has been sold for a reported £17.25m (rather than the £25 – £30m that most Liverpool fans believed he was worth) and if the Van Der Vaart transfer goes through his price will have dropped from £18m to £8m almost over night.
According to the Sky Sports transfer web page, Premiership clubs have acquired 101 players in this transfer window (5 per club). 25 were free transfers and another 17 were loan deals. The richest league in the world has picked up 42% of its new players on the cheap.
Of the 59 transfers where a fee was paid, only 7 were disclosed (12%), with an average value of £8.7m. Only Man City has surprised me by the scale of their spending this summer and only Sunderland has paid a fee that seems significantly over–inflated (£13 for Asamoah Gyan! ).
Overall, I think this is a healthy sign. As fans, it is easy for us to spend money our clubs don't have. For example, I can see areas where Spurs need to strengthen (Wigan was a wake–up call) and I would like to see these weaknesses addressed – but not at the expense of the financial viability of the club.
People will continue to post any rumours that come their way about players their clubs are looking to buy and sell (that is what this site is for) but could they please spare us their fanciful estimates of the transfer fees that will be involved.

Can anyone confirm the loan situation please,
Am I correct in thinking that you cannot now after the loan window opens next week loan from a team in the same league?
Also with the window being shut on INS/ OUTS from countries does this still apply for loans too?
Cheers

Portsmouth–
"I think we may have seen the last of Nugent, we offered him to Burnley yesterday in a bid to bring in Chris Eagles, which failed. He will leave on loan to Blackpool on the 8th."
The premiership transfer window has closed for the premiership.
So unless pompey pay up Nugents contract he won't be going to Blackpool or another Premier club.
Cardiff will take him.

As a result of an internal blue sky thinking symposium on group business models an outline plan was taken forward that could lead to Ipswich Town FC being moved to Dublin.
There are massive barriers to be overcome for this to happen, most obviously The football league, The FA and their 30 mile rule, Uefa and Fifa.
The FA have already sanctioned 1 move Wimbledon to Milton Keynes.
It is envisaged that with crowds of 80,000 at Croke Park and the backing of certain Irish Billionaires the club would soon be in the EPL.
The EPL already has a number of American owners and the idea of franchises moving to other cities is common place.
Would the EPL and their media backers rather have Blackpool, Wigan, Stoke etc or Dublin ( with possibly Celtic and Rangers to follow)
Welsh teams (foreign nation in football terms) already play in the English leagues
Marcus Evans Group which owns ITFC has very strong political links in Ireland and has already secured their ticketing rights for London 2012.
MEG owns 87.5% of ITFC and is owed in excess of 50m by the club (he bought a debt of 32m at the time of the takeover).
UEFA is likely to be the biggest hurdle, particularly with Platini's well known hatred of the EPL. However money speaks loudly as would the threat of law suits for restriction of trade within the EU.
A long way to go with this one, but a crisis is always an opportunity for change and a debt crisis within European football but most particularly in the EPL and spreading down into the FL is certainly coming.
WHAT A LOAD OF OLD TOSH! FOR THIS TO HAPPEN IS PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE, BUT FOR INSTANCE SAY THIS MIRACLE DID HAPPEN, HOW DO YOU EXPECT TO COMPETE AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS WHEN YOU WOULD HAVE TO BREAK EVEN? FROM 2012 YOU WOULD NOT BE PERMITTED TO GO OUT AND SPEND 50M ON PLAYERS AS YOU WILL FACE SANCTIONS FROM FIFA.
AS FOR USING THE TRADE WITHIN THE EU CARD, YOU ARE A SMALL COUNTRY IN TERMS OF POWER IN FOOTBALL, I SEEM TO REMEMBER FIFA TELLING YOUR GOVERNMENT TO SHUT UP AND KEEP THEIR NOSE OUT OF FOOTBALL MATTERS WHEN YOU TRIED GETTING THE FRANCE GAME REPLAYED.
YOU DO NOT HAVE A LEG TO STAND ON, YOU WOULD BE SHOT DOWN ON THE FIRST HURDLE.
TrAcToR BoY ToM!
{EDITOR'S NOTE: The financal fair play rules only apply to european comps but i dont belive they would move to Dublin and if the GAA would not use Croke for domestic Football that would be the Aviva both 2 World class arenas though}

WAIT UNTIL YOU PLAY SOMEONE DECENT BEFORE YOU THINK CHELSEA ARE GODS GIFT! THE FA COULD NOT HAVE GIVEN YOU AN EASIER START AS YOU DO NOT PLAY ANYONE DECENT TIL SEPTEMBER 25TH, BUT YOU WILL COME UNSTUCK THAT IS IMMINENT.
THIS IS THE BEST CHELSEA TEAM IN YOUR WHOLE HISTORY, YOU WILL NEVER BUILD A TEAM AS GOOD AS THIS ONE AGAIN, GOD HELP YOU WHEN THE LIKES OF LAMPARD, TERRY, A.COLE & DROGBA VACATE SOMEWAY OR ANOTHER IN THE NEXT FEW SEASONS.

To the Jack who said this
"I hear (from a not particularly reliable source) that cardiff are struggling to pay even the reduced wages of their squad with the new loanees.
They were expecting to lose a few players during the summer but most of those deals didn't happen. They might be forced into loaning out a few of their first team squad to relieve the pressure, though it would not be a surprise if any potential recipient club expected ccfc to pay 80% of the player's wages, which may not help them hugely.
They will get short shrift from the PFA this season if they hold out the begging bowl again".

A few points:
a) I don't know what DLA is, obviously you do!
b) I'm from Glasgow area (too snobby for you) so I know what a bawbag is.
c) You have been putting up for years? The bank taking all your money.
